We are going to go through all our times tables and try to learn them all off by heart. We will start with 2 times using different strategies which will be in our books, as well as learning a 2 times song- Today we are going to create a basic facts egg. This will show all the multiplications from 2x tables to 9x tables. This can be used at home to practice your basic facts. It also looks like an easter egg so you could hang it on a wall because Im sure you all will make them look really good.
In order to help us learn about regrouping in subtraction, one of the videos taught us using a story of buying pizza from a pizza store. To help us remember this story we are going to recreate it as a comic like below~~
We are going to learn the basic borrowing way of borrowing when doing subtraction. When we don't have enough in the place value to subtract we will borrow from the next place value. Here are 3 videos to help with this skill. We previously learnt how to add using the expanded place value method, so we are going to use the same method but make it suitable to use when we do subtraction. We are going to learn another strategy to make addition easier. This is vertical addition where we will focus on one place value position at a time. In this lesson we are learning a strategy to help with addition. This is by using a number line. In this video I will demonstrate the strategy and then you can practice it according to what level you feel comfortable. Some of you may feel it is easier to just use normal addition but by learning the strategies it gives you more brain connections but for some people it may introduce a way that is easier for them. Therefore it is important to practice all the strategies. We are learning to add with the decimal places tenths and hundredths by putting them in their place value positions. btw I spelt hundredths wrong in the video. In this lesson we are going to learn how and why to add using the place values. I will be showing it in 3 different levels from easy to something a little more difficult. Hopefully by the end of the video you will feel more confident with at least one of the levels we look at. |
