One place where rules are important are in the games that we play. So we are going to create a game with rules in order so everyone can play the game fairly. It's also important that the rules are clear so that there is no arguments over what other people may think it means. Here is an example of the game Mr.Clark made and the rules to follow when playing it. If you enjoy playing it in class, maybe you might like to play it at home with a family member or friend. Mr. Clark’s 'Virtue Marae' game rules.
-All players start at ‘Timatanga’ (start). -Each person has one roll for their turn but if they roll a 6 they get another turn. -Players can go any direction but must travel the dice number in one direction only (ie. if you roll a 6 you can’t go right 4 and then left 2). -The idea of the game is to collect 5 values and then go out to the ‘Whakaoti’ (finish line). -If you land on top of another player (ie. they are 5 squares away and you roll a 5) they must go back to ‘Timatanga’. -The first person to ‘Whakaoti’ with 5 values wins.
