Dear Parents and Caregivers
I hope you have all found this website and are enjoying our weekly updates and newsletters. Please give us some feedback so we can see if this is useful. Term 1 is nearing the end, with two short weeks because of Easter and then a full week before we finish on 13 April. Last week we began some assessments of learning levels, with the PAT reading and comprehension test. This week assessments will continue with a Maths PAT test and individual running reading assessments of some students. We are happy to share the results with you as these are completed and analysed. The Hero presentations were very interesting. A lot of the students were happy to share them with the class to receive some positive feedback and some constructive criticism on something they could improve. All students are able to access their google docs at home to share with you as long as you have good internet access. Midway through last week we began planning narrative writing. The children need to choose a problem, charaters and settings and weave this into a creative writing piece. Please talk to them at home and help them come up with ideas. I hope you are all getting spelling lists at home now to help your children learn. On Fridays they test each other on their old list and then create a new list including any words that are wrong. This list is to be written into their spelling notebook, language book which stays at school, and then emailed home just incase they mislay their notebook. Please let me know if this is not happening. Please connect to Seesaw if you haven't already, so we can begin to use it more. We had originally create 2 groups, but have now decided to just have one which is called Te Puawai, so some of you may have received a second notice home asking you to reconnect to this group. Thank you to those who have allowed their children to bring in headphones for their children to use while doing Lexia Core 5 reading. We would appreciate it if more students brought them to school to use. We hope you have a lovely Easter break with your families, and will see your children back at school on the Wednesday refreshed and ready to learn. Warmest regards Alison and Lyndon
